Jung Sook Koh, producer, Asian America;
Nicholas Kristof, senior writer, The New York Times;
Amitav Ghosh, author,
The Glass Palace
Sreenath Sreenivasan: "The continuing misperceptions about
Asia are often the result of the coverage or the lack it
by the media. In past shows, Asian American has put American
editors on the spot, discussing how the media works.
With
me to continue our series of panels about journalism are two correspondents
with extensive experience on the ground covering one of the most
dynamic regions in the world.
Nicholas
D. Kristof is senior writer at The New York Times and former China
and Japan bureau chief for the paper. He is author, most recently,
of "Thunder from the East: Portrait of a Rising Asia" co-written
by his wife, journalist Sheryl WuDunn. In 1989, the couple became
the first husband-and-wife team to win a joint Pulitzer Prize,
for their reporting on the Tianenmen Square uprising in Beijing.
Amitav
Ghosh is a reporter at large for The New Yorker who reported from
Cambodia and India. He is also a well-known writer of fiction.
His latest novel, The Glass Palace, is set in Burma. He was a
finalist for the National Magazine Awards for his reporting in
The New Yorker about India's nuclear bombs."
